Day Eleven
Janice from Cabot, PA submitted this beautiful picture. I’d love to be able to tell you no moths were harmed during this photo shoot but….. This one is dead. It is actually freeze dried! She added: “God was showing off his artistic side when he painted the wings of the Cecropia moth, the largest north American moth and a member of the silkworm moths. They only live about two weeks because they can not eat. Their only purpose is to mate and lay eggs. The caterpillars of this moth feed mainly on cherry, plum, apple, birch and willow trees.” So good news is the moth was going to die soon anyways, bad news is freeze drying moths is the stepping stone to freeze drying larger mammals…

This moth was found already deceased on Pa. Turnpike.
