Liz sends us her example of what she believes is America for the “This Is America Challenge”, and I totally agree. The photo was taken in Moab, UT. at the Red Cliffs Lodge while her and her husband were traveling to the various National Parks in the Southwest. The great thing about photographs like this is you don’t even really need anyone to tell you to think of America when you see it, it just is America. It’s hard to believe that a hundred or so years ago this area was home to Native Americans and the Americans of today were just starting to settle and explore the west.
The photos composition is excellent as well. The rule of thirds is followed with the fence being in the bottom right third of the frame, if you follow that fence the line of sight points you into the distance giving the photograph some depth. Beautiful!

Beautiful photo. Did LIz use a tripod?
Good question.
No, I did not use a tripod. Actually, I don’t even own one but I do own a unipod which I don’t use.
